I still have yet to use any of the social networking sites, pretty much for the reasons you listed above. I also just can't see them benefiting my online business much and have yet to hear of people who do see results from using them.

You might also wanna try Flock - an open-source browser based on the Mozilla codebase. It has built-in support for these social networking sites

You're right - they are all HUGE distractions. I have gone to only checking email, twitter, etc. once per hour, and I may cut that down more. I need to work, not be alerted to every little thing that others feel are important. I know what's important to me!

That is awesome! I have been needing something like this. I usually have too many tabs open in my browser which ends up confusing me and I become disorganized. I'm gonna' give this a try. Thanks for sharing this.

I have always tried to imagine how one can handle such a bunch of social networking accounts simultanously. Probably one would have to spend half a day to manage them :) Thanks.

I have been using Digsby for some time and it is hands down the best IM client out there. Used trillian, pidgin etc... no more.
